No teacher likes staying extra time every day cleaning up a messy classroom, or spending hours trying to find a specific paper or book. That’s why we’re always coming up with ideas to make our lives easier.

If you’re ready for some “out of the box” tips for organization, look no further than this list to help keep your classroom tidy and your books in place:

  • Book Bins. Bookshelves are great, but if you want to organize your books alphabetically, by subject or group, it’s better to use labeled bins to make books easier to find.
  • Daily & Weekly Folders. Use one folder for each day of the week to organize your papers and then one folder for each month to have everything in one place week by week.
  • Colored Bins. Colored labels for plastic bins will keep everything tidy at once. You can color code bins for supplies, lesson plans, homework assignments, and even a medical kit.
  • Sub Tub. Planning for absent days is almost impossible, but you can help your substitute as much as you can by creating a bin for work plans, prepared assignments, attendance list, etc.

  • Teachers can be the most organized people in the world when they need to  find solutions, so it’s always great to try new things we didn’t know before.
